Kubernetes Platform Engineer
Julius Baer is seeking a Kubernetes Platform Engineer (100% permanent position) for 12 months with the possibility of extension to ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of Kubernetes clusters and services. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Kubernetes Engineer or Operator in enterprise environments and a good understanding of agile development methodologies and Scrum/SAFE frameworks.
Tasks
- Ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, and security of Kubernetes clusters and related services
- Work closely with development teams to support and guide their adoption of cloud-native technologies and CI/CD integration
- Automation of operational processes, including provisioning, patching, monitoring, logging, and incident response
- Act as Scrum Master for the team and work closely with the Product Owner to manage and refine the backlog, ensuring it aligns with business priorities and technical dependencies.
Requirements
- Educational background in computer science, information technology, or a related field
- Demonstrable practical experience as a Kubernetes engineer or platform operator in enterprise-wide environments
- Good understanding of agile development methods and Scrum/SAFE frameworks; previous experience as a Scrum Master is advantageous
- Strong technical knowledge of Kubernetes, including deep understanding of control plane components, networking (CNI), storage (CSI), service mesh concepts, and operators
- Proven experience managing Kubernetes using open-source distributions or managed offerings such as AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) or VMware Tanzu—experience with any of these offerings is a strong plus
- Strong scripting and automation skills with languages such as Bash, Python, and Go, as well as knowledge of configuration formats such as YAML/JSON; familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Helm, Crossplane)
- Experience in developing Kubernetes operators/crossplane providers in Golang is an advantage.
- Holders of the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification are strongly preferred; the Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) certification is considered a significant advantage.
