KYC Uplift Specialist

The KYC Uplift Specialist at Julius Baer is responsible for reviewing and enhancing client due diligence profiles to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The role involves analyzing client information, identifying risks and advising front office and compliance teams.

Job description

Tasks

  • Review and corroboration of the source of wealth using appropriate documents, contextual analysis and market insights
  • Identification and assessment of the risk of opaque legal structures
  • Reviewing client transactions for the period under periodic review, ensuring that transaction activity is consistent with the client's risk profile and identifying suspicious transactions involving unknown third parties
  • Treatment of sanction hit matches as well as hit matches for other AML/CFT risks identified during name and media searches
  • Identification and escalation of newly identified risk indicators or unusual transaction patterns during the review
  • Maintenance of clear and comprehensive documentation of review rationale and decisions
  • Ensuring prompt and high-quality completion of assigned cases within a defined time frame
  • Support with periodic reports and status updates for internal governance
  • Advising front-line staff on KYC/CDD-related matters
  • Advising management and local risk committees on the AML/CFT risk of a client relationship
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying recurring gaps and proposing improvements to procedures

Additional tasks

  • Customer management (internal & external)
    • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders such as front office and compliance teams
    • Close cooperation with foreign offices (in particular Hong Kong, Dubai and Thailand) to contribute to KYC reviews
  • Regulatory responsibilities and/or risk management
    • Demonstrate appropriate values and behaviors, including but not limited to standards of honesty and integrity, care and diligence, fair treatment (fair treatment of clients), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, appropriate risk management and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
    • Ensure that KYC/CDD issues are properly identified, assessed and documented
    • Ensure that where KYC/CDD measures cannot be completed, mitigating measures are in place and prompt escalation to the Compliance department is made when suspicious activity/behavior is identified

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English, other languages are an advantage

Desired qualifications

  • Experience in due diligence practices, in particular in corroboration of SoW
  • A good degree and understanding of the private banking industry and/or trust companies
