Lead, Business Intelligence & Analytics
The Nutrien Team is looking for a Lead, Business Intelligence & Analytics in Ottawa to develop scalable Power BI dashboards and ETL pipelines to support data-driven decision-making. The candidate should have 6–9 years of experience and a master’s degree in a technical field.
Tasks
- Design and build large, scalable BI dashboard frameworks using modern, object-oriented design principles.
- Develop and implement the Power BI Semantic Model, including advanced features such as dynamic parameters.
- Lead data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) pipelines to facilitate reporting, data integration, and data quality monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, finance, and sales) to align metrics, assess performance, and identify trends and anomalies.
- Create intuitive and responsive dashboards that feature detailed analytics, such as key performance indicators (KPIs), trend analysis, and root cause identification for data issues.
- Continuously seek improvements by testing features and identifying and validating new technologies, workflows, and processes.
- Actively participate in regular one-on-one meetings with key stakeholders, leadership, analysts, service managers, and internal customers to present findings, insights, and recommendations.
- Regularly present insights from research and analysis to ensure clarity regarding objectives, timelines, and work processes.
- Measure client satisfaction based on the organization's overall performance.
- Monitor the performance and costs of IT operations.
- Continuously evaluate the performance and capabilities of the entire organization.
- Evaluate the overall efficiency and effectiveness of IT systems.
- Lead and support multidisciplinary projects within the Nutrien team.
- Provide actionable insights and analysis to support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models and advanced data structures.
- Drive growth and innovation within the company, with a focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
- Design and develop advanced data analytics solutions.
- Align work with broader goals and KPIs.
- Plan and design the corporate data strategy to optimize the allocation of the operating budget and ensure alignment with broader strategic goals.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with data operations, data quality, and data governance.
- Provide actionable insights to enable data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, or Engineering (preferably in Data Analytics or Big Data)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, or Engineering (preferably Data Analytics or Big Data)
- 6–9 years of experience in business analytics and data science, with expertise in Power BI and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI Service (Pro), or SAP Analytics Cloud.
- A strong understanding of business intelligence principles and practices.
- Experience in developing and managing Power BI Semantic Model projects.
- Ability to design and implement ETL pipelines and data integration procedures.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with Power BI, including advanced configuration and scripting (e.g., Python or R)
- In-depth knowledge of SQL, Python, or R
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Power BI, or other relevant data science tools.
- A deep understanding of the principles, practices, and methodologies of business intelligence and analytics
