Lead Infrastructure DB Admin

The Lead Infrastructure DB Admin is responsible for managing software assets in an infrastructure environment and coordinates with various teams to ensure that software assets are properly inventoried, licensed and maintained. The candidate should have experience in software asset management, database administration and license management.

Job description

Tasks

  • Coordinate and collaborate with partners across the organization including: Business Application Owners, Service Catalogue Managers, Software Product Owners and Procurement Representatives.
  • Understanding the impact of maintenance / assurance, support contracts and requirements.
  • Manage the lifecycle of software assets from initial request - purchase, deployment, maintenance - through to decommissioning.
  • Ensuring the quality of software asset records in the asset management repository, including software discovery models, software product models and software authorizations.
  • Discovery and creation of a complete inventory of deployed software.
  • Identification and correlation of hardware and devices of the software used.
  • Identification of license count, license scheme/type and usage of each detected software.
  • Identification of licensed applications and identification of provider, number, license costs and current license holders. Categorization of all license uses: assigned in use, assigned unused, unassigned, expired.
  • Perform reconciliations by comparing entitlements with discovered software installations to resolve effective license positions for each in-scope publisher.

Qualifications and educational requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in daily operational activities for a Software Asset Management (SAM) in an infrastructure environment.
  • Understanding of common enterprise database platforms (Oracle, MSSQL Server, etc.).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure terminology (database, server, cloud, VM, network, telephony, etc.).
  • Experience in managing software assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Understanding of software licensing models, including major vendors (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, etc.).
  • Experience with asset discovery tools and management of related data to analyze and identify potential gaps.
  • Experience with SAM related platforms, tools and integrations - including ServiceNow SAM and Coupa.
