Lead, Network Engineer

As a Lead Network Engineer at Northern Trust in Pune, you will take on a technical leadership role focused on network architecture, design, and solving complex production issues. The position requires in-depth expertise in Linux, cloud technologies, and Cisco networks, as well as relevant certifications such as CCNP or ITIL.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • As a technical expert in network technology, you will report to the Network Manager and assist the network operations teams with complex server troubleshooting as needed.
  • Troubleshooting, mitigating, and resolving production issues, as well as monitoring key operational processes.
  • Ensuring that the cable infrastructure operates as planned and managing the technical delivery of products and services that enable service transformation across the production IT strategy.
  • Ensuring service stability by maintaining the functionality of key components.
  • Creation of low-level design documents to support implementations within the scope of the design.
  • Review of updated implementation designs for all actively created engagements.
  • Responsibility for proof-of-concept activities necessary to achieve new goals.
  • Assume overall responsibility for transformation initiatives to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with the agreed-upon milestones for the final agreements.
  • Management of technical architecture in network and communications services.
  • Supporting the architecture in facilitating and opening a delivery portal for network and communication services.
  • Supporting the architecture team in activities necessary to ensure that the project was executed to a high standard of design.
  • Ensure that architecture activities are carried out within the PMO of the contact delivery.
  • Ensuring that architecture activities are relevant and up-to-date in order to deliver service value.
  • Provision of post-implementation support for the network and communications infrastructure during major incidents, as needed.
  • Proactive problem support (Level 1) and searching for approved solutions when necessary.

Requirements and qualifications

  • Understanding of the corporate strategy and how the business model can support the network and/or service vision.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and enterprise servers, as well as experience in scripting for any user interface.
  • Extensive knowledge of Linux and a deeper understanding of a wider range of Ubuntu web and networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of tools, troubleshooting technologies, and techniques to support investigations, problem-solving, and complaint handling.
  • In-depth understanding of core infrastructure integration and delivery, including infrastructure, application, and network hardware and software.

Technical Skills and Expertise

  • Network security, working with defensive security.
  • CI/CD, APIs – Networking in Solutions.
  • Deployments, Cloud: AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Cisco, Unix, Windows, OS, SD-WAN.
  • Knowledge, maintainability, and experience with the following network platforms:
    • Cisco Data
    • Pure Storage

Technical Certifications

  • ITIL V3/ITIL 4 Transition to ITIL V3/ITIL 4 & Leading ITIL V3 & ITIL 4 Transitioning Certified.
  • Check Point CCSE.
  • CCNA, CCNP, CCDE, CCIE, CCISSP.
  • CCLS 24/30 Certified in Legal.
  • A desire and willingness to provide certifications or verifiable work experience in the following areas:
    • ITIL V3/ITIL 4 Transitioning, ITIL V3/ITIL 4 & Leading ITIL V3 & ITIL 4 Transitioning Certified

Personal characteristics

  • Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks and coordinate work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
