Lead, SW Engineering

The Lead Software Engineer (SW Engineering) at Northern Trust is responsible for designing secure and scalable solutions on the ServiceNow platform and leading a team of developers. The role requires experience in ServiceNow development, particularly IRM and GRC, as well as leadership skills.

Job description: Lead, SW Engineering

Tasks

  • Design secure and scalable solutions in line with the business:
  • Breaking down design decisions into actionable tasks, estimating the tasks and ensuring these tasks are assigned to the team and ensuring control for completion from start to finish.
  • Drive research, proof of concepts and design considerations and obtain stakeholder approval for implementation.
  • Reviewing code and debugging issues, incidents and providing end-to-end solutions to them through hands-on development and resolution.
  • Supporting the team in technical and functional aspects and solving questions.
  • Communicate with business and technology stakeholders on feature progress, timelines, estimates and project vendors.
  • Advice on alternative options, risks and the associated impact on the business and technology architecture.
  • Designing new practices and patterns on the ServiceNow platform is an advantage.
  • Ability to operate in an agile execution model with the ability to integrate continuous integration and continuous delivery frameworks.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate the change request process for development and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships and communication with global stakeholders, other IT teams and business units.
  • Ability to work with suppliers and support staff in executing solutions, improvements and supporting their implementation.
  • Flexibility for upskilling and managing team members with different skills.

Requirements

Minimum qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.
  • 12+ years of extensive professional experience on the ServiceNow platform with GRC module and IRM implementation.

Required skills:

  • Experience as IRM ServiceNow development and platform.
  • Practical experience with ServiceNow integrations.
  • Experience with Flow Designer.
  • Experience leading technical implementation efforts of similar scope and size.
  • Collaboration with business analysts and project managers to develop solutions.
  • Strong understanding of technical knowledge of ServiceNow.
  • Professional experience in creating custom workspaces, custom service portals.
  • Integration of ServiceNow with other enterprise applications via web services, mid-server, e-mail, etc.
  • Development of customized reports.
  • Development of integration components (SSO, LDAP, ADFS, SailPoint, Ping, etc.).

Nice-to-have skills:

  • ServiceNow CAS, CAD, CIS-IRM, CIS-CSM, CIS-ITSM certified.
  • Understanding of other ServiceNow products.
