Lead, Full-Stack Software Engineer

Tasks

• Responsibility for leading the design, architecture, and delivery of digital solutions that support the Client Direct Engineering & Platform Engineering (D&E) portfolio within the Northern Trust system.
• Provide guidelines for external vendors, customer engineering teams, and other partners among business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance digital products.
• Leading the design, development, and implementation of digital solutions that align with business and technical requirements.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development teams while promoting engineering best practices.
• Driving adoption, data and event architecture engineering, decision-making and alignment, reporting, mentoring, development, and security requirements.
• Ensuring code quality through architectural analysis, testing, and adherence to development standards.
• Evaluation of code (e.g., SQL, data, web and mobile applications) to improve system efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with and engage technical, environmental, and technological stakeholders to advance strategic direction and integration priorities.
• Monitoring system availability, resource utilization, and scalability goals, and driving continuous improvement.
• Identification, assessment, and application of technologies, applications, and security risks to organizational capabilities, including compliance with governance requirements, as well as the proactive identification and mitigation of threats and vulnerabilities.
• Maintaining application reliability, resilience, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensuring compliance with organizational information and security policies and governance requirements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in full-stack and Java/J2EE development.
• Extensive expertise in technologies such as the Web, REST APIs, microservices, and application development patterns.
• Experience with clients, SQL, Elasticsearch, MS/Oracle, and enterprise application technologies.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S. without the need for visa-based employment sponsorship, either now or in the future.
