Job Profile Summary

The Prime Brokerage & Trading Legal department is part of Man's comprehensive legal department. The team consists of lawyers and attorneys in London and New York. The team provides a market-leading platform for transaction-focused work, enabling in-house lawyers to focus on higher-value advisory functions. These include providing strategic legal advice to the business, managing relationships with key counterparties, and ensuring that the investment management business complies with relevant financial regulations and regulatory developments. Your role as legal counsel will involve working with all team members to fulfill the team's core legal and advisory responsibilities. As an important part of the risk management framework, you will assist members of the investment management teams and third-party service providers and act as a trusted legal advisor to the company.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Work on new fund launches with various internal teams, including but not limited to product structuring, operations, compliance, fund launch, portfolio managers, and key business partners
• Work on and maintain relationships with key counterparties to ensure that legal agreements are up to date and meet the requirements of key financial institutions/counterparties.
• Providing strategic legal advice on structuring the funds, strategy, and roles and responsibilities of investment management
• Proactive management of legal risks in fund and trading business, including:
  • ISDA/Schedule and ISDA credit support attachments
  • Prime brokerage agreements, prime brokerage agreements, futures and OTC clearing agreements, prime brokerage agreements, custody and settlement documents
• Advising the company on regulatory and internal policies and procedures; overseeing the onboarding of new counterparties; ensuring that we are aware of any new risks that may arise

Key qualifications and experience

Key qualifications and experience include:

• Legal qualification with experience on the buyer or seller side of hedge funds or securities firms. You should typically have 2-5 years of professional experience. However, we will also consider applications with relevant experience if you have less than 2 years of professional experience.
• Team player with excellent communication and project management skills, able to collaborate with senior and external attorneys to achieve results
• Excellent analytical skills to ensure that we manage multiple work streams simultaneously, including supervising external lawyers and coordinating internal stakeholders
• Ability to set priorities, show initiative, and work with minimal supervision
• Strong advisory and commercial judgment, with the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice to senior business partners
