Legal Counsel

Sygnnum is seeking a Legal Counsel in Zurich to advise the bank on legal and regulatory matters related to digital assets and to support the bank in product development. The ideal candidate has a Swiss law degree, in-depth knowledge of Swiss financial market regulation, and is fluent in German and English.

Tasks

  • Provide legal advisory services on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on product-related legal work
  • Contribute to legal workstreams and projects related to banking, regulatory, and product-related initiatives
  • Support the legal review, structuring, and implementation of new products and services in accordance with applicable legal requirements and regulations
  • Work closely with the product and development team
  • Support management and internal departments on legal and regulatory matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Support the identification and assessment of legal and regulatory risks in business processes and decision-making
  • Ad-hoc advice on legal and regulatory requirements in day-to-day business operations
  • Review and drafting of standardized and non-standardized agreements between the bank and its clients, as well as between the bank and other third parties
  • Draft, review, and/or negotiate legal documents such as contracts, statements, agreements, policies, and internal guidelines
  • Support business departments in identifying legal and regulatory risks and identify legal and regulatory risks to assess compliance risk management
  • Provide support for internal legal training matters

Our ideal candidate

  • A law degree from a Swiss university; admission to the bar and/or additional qualifications are a plus (e.g., LL.M.)
  • Solid knowledge of Swiss banking and financial market regulation (e.g., the FINMA framework, FiDLex, FinTax)
  • Prior practical experience in banking, financial services, a law firm, or a consulting firm is a plus, particularly experience with the structuring of investment funds, structured products, and/or financial services
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills, with attention to detail and legal accuracy
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while knowing when to seek guidance
  • A magnificent, solution-oriented mindset with an interest in innovative financial products
  • A strong team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in German and English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus
