Head of Operational Risk

Zürcher Kantonalbank is looking for a Head of Operational Risk who will be responsible for establishing and implementing the Operational Risk Management Framework and leading a team of around 20 employees. The position offers the opportunity to gain a broad insight into the bank and to develop personally and professionally.

Job description

Tasks

  • Responsibility for the management and further development of the Operational Risk division as a "second" HR responsibility
  • Personal, professional and strategic management of an organizational unit with approx. 20 employees
  • Assessment, management and monitoring of the operational risk profile, operational resilience and preparation for the effective design of the risk management framework including operational risk event reporting and remediation
  • Responsibility for embedding the operational risk framework across the business and contributing to the organization's risk and control culture through training and raising awareness of the importance of risk management
  • Ensuring the successful handling of OpRisk projects and smooth cooperation with various stakeholders (Legal & Compliance, internal audit, risk managers in front and logistics units)
  • Supporting the Chief Risk Officer in setting corporate and efficiency-oriented targets

Requirements

  • University degree in a STEM subject, economics, finance (university, ETH) - specific risk certificates and a CFA degree are a plus
  • Proven and long-standing professional experience in the management of an operational risk function in the financial sector and demonstrates the ability to convince and assert oneself
  • Sound knowledge of local regulatory requirements, industry peers and best practices in the areas of operational risk management/ICS incl. IT and cyber risks, international experience is a plus
  • Proven experience in leading specialist teams and are able to motivate your employees and lead them to peak performance
  • Strong analytical skills and able to quickly grasp complex issues, identify and evaluate problems and identify solution sets thanks to your familiarity with Universal Bank processes and experience in applying risk management frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills and can present complex topics in an understandable, addressee-oriented or convincing manner and motivate stakeholders to actively participate in a cooperative manner
  • Strong, resilient, proactive and independent personality
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English
