Linux Infrastructure Engineer - Platform Engineering

Tasks

• Day-to-day management of the infrastructure
• Critical project work
• Advising and guiding teams on the architecture of our infrastructure
• Working on Linux servers, virtualized Linux desktops, HPC compute, Kubernetes, cloud and virtualization technology

What can you learn?

• Managing large internal data centers with tens of thousands of cores and hundreds of terabytes of storage, running Python at scale
• Build and manage Man Group's infrastructure, both on-premise and in the cloud, using technologies such as Python, Linux, Ansible, Terraform and Kubernetes
• Writing software to automate infrastructure and create flexible self-service technology for thousands of users at Man Group
• Maintaining reliable systems when managing petabyte-sized storage and large CPU and GPU deployments, driven by Spark for example
• Close cooperation with business partners in a dynamic environment

Requirements

Required skills and experience

• Technical experience through open source contributions, 2+ years of relevant industry experience
• Experience with one of the following programming or scripting languages, for example Python, Go, C or C++
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Salt
• Experience with Linux on a large scale

Desired skills and experience

• Understanding of how source control and continuous deployment workflows work with tools such as Git and Docker
• Orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
• Self-organized with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage time on multiple projects
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Self-starter with a desire to learn and understand more about the business environment in which you work
