Linux Infrastructure Engineer - Platform Engineering
As a Linux Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and critical projects of our infrastructure in London, working on high performance Linux servers, virtual desktops, HPC compute, Kubernetes, cloud and virtualization technologies. You will have strong knowledge of infrastructure technologies and troubleshooting skills and work closely with teams to optimize architecture and systems.

Tasks
- Day-to-day management of the infrastructure
- Critical project work
- Advising and guiding teams on the architecture of our infrastructure
- Working on Linux servers, virtualized Linux desktops, HPC compute, Kubernetes, cloud and virtualization technology
What can you learn?
- Managing large internal data centers with tens of thousands of cores and hundreds of terabytes of storage, running Python at scale
- Build and manage Man Group's infrastructure, both on-premise and in the cloud, using technologies such as Python, Linux, Ansible, Terraform and Kubernetes
- Writing software to automate infrastructure and create flexible self-service technology for thousands of users at Man Group
- Maintaining reliable systems when managing petabyte-sized storage and large CPU and GPU deployments, driven by Spark for example
- Close cooperation with business partners in a dynamic environment
Requirements
Required skills and experience
- Technical experience through open source contributions, 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with one of the following programming or scripting languages, for example Python, Go, C or C++
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Salt
- Experience with Linux on a large scale
Desired skills and experience
- Understanding of how source control and continuous deployment workflows work with tools such as Git and Docker
- Orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
- Self-organized with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage time on multiple projects
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Self-starter with a desire to learn and understand more about the business environment in which you work
