Liquidity Business Analyst - Treasury

Role Description

  • The Business Analytics (TA) team for the Treasury COO team is based off-site and offshore.
  • The BA processes include regular project updates, organization-wide support, planning, and capacity allocation.
  • The unit is responsible for treasury operations at Nomura's UK Finance and Treasury departments, including data collection, analysis, data-based analysis (DBA), and documentation of the desired outcome, as well as application review and substantiation.
  • The role is associated with the TA or Risk team, located in any of the Treasury operations offices and/or Nomura's financial group and/or in offices that collaborate with colleagues in London, Tokyo, Singapore, Lloyds, and Frankfurt.

Specific Requirements

  • Lead efforts related to basic data and system changes; use information to facilitate timely data collection and calculations as part of an ongoing project; and prepare, coordinate, and oversee data analysis and delivery.
  • Ensure that current strategies are in place and aligned with the team’s strategy, particularly with regard to transparency.
  • Prepare, present, and implement relevant plans for agreement on technical data and data governance processes, as well as coordinate project management, regulatory monitoring and control (e.g., FCA, SEC, etc.), and regulatory compliance policies and procedures to ensure a high standard of internal controls and the adequacy of data and reports.
  • Conduct a comprehensive and detailed data analysis to ensure timely data and calculations as part of an ongoing project, including preparing, coordinating, and overseeing the data analysis and delivery.
  • Manage technical and strategic data analysis, reviewing and facilitating the provision of timely, accurate, and actionable data to support the preparation of a comprehensive analysis and oversight of risk management policies.
  • Conduct data quality exercises to test and identify issues and generate timely reports, ensuring that all data and data quality issues are identified and that appropriate corrective action plans are developed.
  • Monitor data quality issues related to the inputs and outputs of the risk systems; this should include reviews of system data inputs and outputs, as well as relevant metrics.
  • Support groups and committees involved in reviewing data to ensure agility in monitoring, reporting, and the timely, accurate, and actionable delivery of data to support the preparation of a comprehensive analysis and oversight of risk management policies.
  • Lead ongoing investigations into relevant data and policies, including customer and investor complaints, inquiries, and third-party risk assessments, and contribute to the development and implementation of corrective action plans.

Title, Experience, Qualifications, and Required Knowledge

  • Experience in liquidity management gained as a business analyst responsible for risk data operations and system changes, as well as investigation management.
  • Knowledge of UK government, U.S. SEC, and FINRA liquidity reporting rules (LPI, OLP, etc.), ALCFA, ADEM, FIRM, ACMA, FINMA, or similar.
  • Familiarity with the J-TAB Board and FASIA-LDFM (liquidity reporting, risk management, and internal capital markets).
  • Knowledge of investment banking products (specifically: securitization, emerging securities, and derivatives), including how to structure and manage complex trades, and an understanding of their impact on balance sheets.
  • Ability to conduct task risk assessments and adjust risk parameters and controls.
  • Ability to understand and meet the goals, objectives, and requirements, and to report on them appropriately.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good time management and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including both short-term (e.g., daily) and medium- and long-term planning.
