Load, Business Continuity Management

The Load Business Continuity Manager at Northern Trust in Pune is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring business continuity strategies and plans for local technology platforms. The role involves coordinating crisis management, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with global teams and internal stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Load, Business Continuity Manager (LNBC Locals) is responsible for the development, implementation, governance, audit, and continuous improvement of Continuity of Service Business (CIBS) local systems across all Primary AFNs (four core ICT technology platforms covering areas primarily related to global payment services, electronic receivables operations, electronic disbursement operations, asset and fund management, custodial services, eInvestments/broking, and asset allocation). CIBS local systems are deployed across 23 business units within four Global Technology Hubs (GTH) and consist of 55 critical load systems and 690 load systems. Typically, load systems receive events from upstream systems, generate messages based on internal actions, and report on regulatory obligations to upstream internal users.

Critical Load includes key underlying applications and global data-processing infrastructure, such as message switches, approval engines, task management systems, master data systems, and connectivity. Critical Load Sys data supports continuous operational delivery while ensuring regulatory compliance, including strict regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Continuity Strategy & Governance
    • Lead the LNBC Technology Business Continuity Program.
    • Develop and maintain continuity strategies and resilience requirements that are aligned with global plans and local regulatory requirements.
    • Identify and evaluate business impact analysis.
    • Establish governance processes, metrics, reporting, and elevated dashboards for continuity and technology disruption incidents.
    • Monitor key indicators of continuity risks, including procedures and recovery objectives.
  • Technology Risk & Preparedness
    • Technical, analytical, and governance aspects of Technology Business Continuity Plans (TBCPs)
    • Ensure that primary plans for all critical platforms, application systems, applications, and dependencies are documented, tested, and up to date
    • Conduct business impact analyses (BIA) and risk assessments across LNBC Technology platforms
    • Assess dependencies on third-party vendors, cloud service providers, and critical technology partners
    • Manage incident command, application delivery, incident structure, and recovery objectives
    • Ensure compliance with local regulations and recovery objectives
  • Operational Readiness
    • Regularly coordinate and oversee critical business services (BES) and technology dependencies.
    • Define minimum viable business service levels across services, functions, facilities, and third-party dependencies
    • Result in establishing continuity communications and resilient maintenance processes
    • Manage using a continuous improvement system that involves periodic BCP testing and measurement to drive continuous improvement.
  • Crisis Management & Incident Response
    • Support technical incident management and rapid incident response activities
    • Participate in organized continuity events during incidents
    • Coordinate communications, including executive decision-making and recovery governance during disruptions
    • Facilitate the incident review and corrective action plans.
  • Stakeholder management
    • Serve as the primary LNBC liaison between internal global BCP teams and regional technology leadership

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer systems, engineering, risk management, business administration, or a related field.
    • A master's degree is preferred.
