Machine Learning Engineer

Julius Baer is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer in Singapore to develop and optimize ML models aimed at improving client advisory services and investment performance. Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize machine learning algorithms and models to extract insights and improve client service and investment performance.
  • Design and implement advanced predictive models to forecast market trends and optimize portfolio risk and returns.
  • Work closely with business colleagues to understand the business needs and translate them into technical requirements for the machine learning solutions.
  • Analyze large volumes of financial data to identify anomalies and patterns and optimize strategies for asset allocation and risk management.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate machine learning models into existing systems and workflows.
  • Perform data quality checks and resolve data-related issues to ensure accurate and reliable machine learning models.
  • Conduct research into new machine learning techniques to stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field.
  • Must have extensive experience in machine learning and data analytics.
  • This position is primarily focused on managing risk and strategies, developing and utilizing risk management data and decision-making systems, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of financial modeling, algorithmic trading, and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with Python, R, or other relevant programming languages used in financial markets.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
  • Understanding of financial markets, including equities, fixed income, forex, FX, or cryptocurrency.
  • Experience with data analysis, statistical analysis, and visualizations (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QlikView).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts.
  • Self-motivated, a proactive learner, and a team player who is willing to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient (intermediate).
  • Technical experience and expertise in research, data analysis, and machine learning techniques.
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, or Keras).
  • Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, machine learning, and visualization.
  • Experience with data analysis, statistical analysis, and business knowledge of finance and credit are a major plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and innovative skills, with a focus on driving business value and customer satisfaction. (e.g., using machine learning to gain insights for trading).
  • A proven track record of successfully delivering advanced projects and products in the finance industry (e.g., developing machine learning models for risk management and portfolio optimization).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a desire to stay abreast of new trends and technologies (e.g., stay up to date on the latest advancements in machine learning and AI).
  • Relevant certifications, such as PMI, CRCMP, CFA, CFP, CAIA, etc., are a plus.
  • Bilingualism (English and Chinese) is an added advantage, as the company is a global firm with operations in other major financial centers.
  • At this time, no relevant experience is required for the position, but applicants must be able to provide 3 weeks' notice or less.
