Senior Mainframe Developer

The job posting is seeking an experienced Mainframe Senior Developer with at least 15 years of experience in IBM mainframe systems, JCL, DB2, and SQL, who will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and modernizing system software. The ideal candidate should have strong programming skills in COBOL, PL/1, and Assembler, and experience working with CICS systems.

Tasks

- The Mainframe Senior Developer is responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading, and supporting various system software products for the z/OS operating environment. Required skills include DB2 database and tools, COBOL and PL/1 programming, JCL, strong assembler programming skills, and CICS expertise. - The employee should be able to communicate status to customers, project managers, team members, and management and collaborate with them. - He or she should work on primitive CICS systems and recreate them in a lower environment. - He or she should work on Assembler and PL/1 programs to modify, test, and debug them efficiently. - They should provide solutions to modernize existing primitive architectures based on mainframe systems. - They should ensure that solutions provide system stability by adhering to best practices and TNT change and support methodologies. - They should work on developing multiple design features and brainstorm with the team/SMEs. - He/she should analyze, evaluate, debug, test, assess, and implement system software upgrades and new software packages. - He/she should support software development life cycle (SDLC) methods and Agile framework. - He should ensure that software/system performance is at the highest level by monitoring software usage and implementing proposed changes. - He should adapt to changing roles and dynamic priorities. - He should work with people of different personalities and backgrounds. - He should prioritize his work independently.

Requirements

- 15+ years of experience in the following areas:
  • IBM mainframe experience
  • JCL
  • DB2
  • Strong SQL skills

Nice to Have

- Experience in developing stored procedures – both Cobol and Native - Strong assembler programming/debugging skills - Cobol programming language - PL/1 programming language
