Manager, Financial Accounting

The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the financial control and reporting of the group and its subsidiaries, including monitoring monthly reports, annual financial statements, and financial controls. The role also involves leading a team within the finance department and providing technical support and guidance.

Purpose of the role

The role is responsible for supporting financial control and reporting for the group and its subsidiaries. This includes ongoing and ad hoc review of monthly management reports, preparation of annual financial statements, reporting to supervisory boards and local regulatory authorities, and continuous evaluation and improvement of financial controls and processes within the finance department.

Specific responsibilities

  • Team: Management and supervision of direct reports, communication, support, coaching, and mentoring within the finance department, assistance with coordinating and planning work within the department
  • Financial reporting: Review of monthly management reports for the Group's legal entities, review of local GAAP balance sheets, review of compliance with relevant GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Financial control and other matters: Participation in ad hoc projects and troubleshooting, support in interpreting new technical issues, proactive role in reviewing processes with the aim of continuous improvement

Technical skills

  • Accounting: ACA/ACGA or equivalent qualification, good knowledge of financial accounting, including technical accounting (IFRS)
  • Financial controls: Understanding of controls, with the ability to critically evaluate them within a larger organization
  • Regulation: Experience or knowledge of FCA or similar regulatory rules and the asset management industry is an advantage.
  • IT skills: Computer literacy with strong Excel skills and the ability to learn new systems
  • Risk awareness: Ability to understand financial risks and use this understanding in decision-making and processes
  • Interpersonal/communication skills: Organizational and presentation skills, along with the ability to deal confidently with multiple stakeholders and experience in team management
