Manager, Middle Office Accounting

The Manager Middle Office Accounting is responsible for leading a team that performs security price controls, NAV calculations and performance attribution. The Manager must have both technical expertise and leadership skills to manage the team and drive strategic improvements.

Job description: Manager, Middle Office Accounting

Tasks

  • Management/Leadership:
    • Lead and develop a small/medium team, provide mentorship, technical guidance and career development
    • Drive strategic process improvements and technology enhancements that align with department goals
    • Provide direct support to global senior management in the strategic planning and implementation of key initiatives
    • Shaping team priorities and influencing decisions through technical expertise and business acumen
    • Building and maintaining important stakeholder relationships
  • Technical development:
    • Continuous improvement of existing systems/processes/procedures and MIS
    • Leverage in-house technology to deliver efficient solutions for improving or delivering new metrics and visualizations of reporting and control processes
  • Control delivery:
    • Monitor the Company's systems and available tools to support the review and analysis of funds' income statements across asset classes
    • Check the accuracy of the income statement of funds and the NAV at the end of the business day to ensure that the correct profit is recognized
    • Monitor the valuation of the NAV of hedge funds (NAVF) on the investment platform
    • For valuation and regulatory requirements
    • Manage relationships with fund administrators to ensure accurate and timely NAV reconciliation and reporting
    • Monitor the implementation of feeder master and multi-funds at fund level to ensure the application is correct and no netting occurs
    • Monitor the foreign exchange exposure review process and hedging operations

Requirements

  • Strong analytical background in a quantitative or analytical field (mathematics, finance and accounting, physics, engineering, computer science or similar alternative disciplines)
  • 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry, including experience with funds and/or financial markets
  • In-depth understanding of fund accounting and/or valuation of financial instruments
  • Strong project management skills
  • Personnel management and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and business acumen
  • Excellence in stakeholder management and communication at all levels
  • Proven experience in project management with a track record of success

Advantages (not required)

  • Basic knowledge of programming with enthusiasm for developing technical skills
  • Professional qualifications (CFA, accounting qualifications or similar)
  • Python programming or similar languages; SQL or database experience to support automation of processes and reports
