Manager, Middle Office Accounting
The Middle Office Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing key processes and implementing strategic improvements in the areas of financial reporting, NAV calculations and security assessments. The candidate should have both technical expertise and leadership skills to manage a high performing team.
Job description: Manager, Middle Office Accounting
Tasks
- Management/Leadership:
- Lead and develop a small/medium team, provide mentorship, technical guidance and career development support
- Oversee process improvements and technology enhancements in line with departmental objectives
- Provide direct support to global senior management in the strategic planning and implementation of key initiatives
- Shaping priorities and influencing decisions through technical expertise and business acumen
- Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships across the organization
- Technical development:
- Drive continuous improvement of existing systems/processes/procedures and MIS
- Leverage in-house technology to deliver efficient solutions for improving or delivering new metrics and visualizations of reporting and control processes
- Control processing:
- Oversee the firm's systems and available tools to ensure and lead the review and analysis of fund P&L across all asset classes
- Daily review of the accuracy of fund profit and loss security valuations using risk-based measures, including exchange-traded and OTC derivatives
- Monitoring the valuation of net asset values (NAV) of the funds, including complex administration and performance for ex-ante calibration and ongoing monitoring
- Monitor fund management and administration to ensure accurate and timely NAV reconciliation
- Implementation of feeder master and multi-feeder fund structures; ensuring the correct application and monitoring of accounting requirements
- Review of foreign exchange exposure review processes and monitoring of hedging operations
Requirements
- Strong academic background in a quantitative and/or analytical field (mathematics, finance and accounting, physics, engineering, computer science or a related field)
- 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry, including experience with funds and/or financial markets
- In-depth understanding of fund accounting and/or valuation of financial instruments
- Strong technical skills and the ability to exert influence
- Personnel management and leadership skills
- Strong organization and business acumen
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels
- Proven experience in project management with a track record of success
Pleasant characteristics (but not required)
- Basic knowledge of programming with enthusiasm to develop technical skills
- Professional qualifications (CFA, accounting qualifications)
- Python programming (or similar languages); SQL; or database experience to support automation of processes and reporting
