Middle Office & Accounting Analyst

The Middle Office & Accounting Analyst supports the portfolio and asset management team with daily administrative tasks, including NAV calculations, cash management, and reporting. The role requires a high degree of accuracy, strong communication skills, and the ability to work proactively and collaboratively.

Job description

Man Group’s U.S. Middle Office and Accounting team manages hedge fund and private equity products. This role supports portfolio and asset management activities and is responsible for overnight NAV calculations, cash management, daily reporting, B&A, and accounts receivable (financial accounting). The analyst will be responsible for a significant portion of the daily administrative tasks. The ideal candidate should be proactive, able to work collaboratively, and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the management and administration of operational workflows and processes for our funds
  • Review and processing of all cash management and accounting activities, including margin calls, borrowings, redemptions, valuations, settlements, and confirmations
  • Ensuring the quality and effectiveness of pricing governance and controls by identifying and escalating pricing transactions and communicating/documenting them to relevant parties
  • Ensuring that relevant information is included in the valuation of investments and that the valuations reflect fair value
  • Calculation of the net asset value (NAV) of the funds on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, including a review of accrued income and expenses
  • Support with comprehensive accounting to verify our fund NAVs and monitor performance against service levels
  • Collaborate with the middle-office team to develop and deliver clear reports, respond to client inquiries, and support the rest of the business as needed
  • Monitoring changes to billing/service fees, management fees, and other fee structures
  • Responsibility for setting up accounts and reconciling transactions on a daily basis to ensure the accuracy of the entries
  • Responsibility for relationships with service providers, including, but not limited to, fund administration, credit administration, banking, custody, valuation agents, etc.
  • Assistance with the preparation of annual financial statements and monthly investor reports
  • Support in the daily identification of significant financial events and potential issues with operational controls, in order to improve the control environment and reduce inefficiencies
  • A proactive and creative approach to improving processes and maintaining internal policies and controls

Key qualifications and experience

  • 0–2 years of experience in accounting or a related field, such as real estate lending, hedge funds, or funds of funds
  • Excellent Microsoft skills (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
  • Strong communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to multitask
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A team player with the ability to work collaboratively who is also capable of taking on individual responsibility
