Middle Office Accounting, Senior Analyst (Career Returner)
The Senior Analyst in Middle Office Accounting at Man Group is responsible for monitoring fund portfolios and valuations and assists with NAV control, P&L analysis, and process improvement. The position is part of the Man Group Returner Program, which aims to reintegrate professionals returning to work after a break of at least 24 months.
Tasks
The Middle Office department is primarily responsible for monitoring fund portfolios and fund administration across the entire range of Man funds. This includes pricing Man internal derivatives and the net asset value (NAV) of funds and their share classes, which are calculated by investment fund administrators. Middle Office Senior Analysts typically assume day-to-day responsibility for core middle office accounting activities relating to specific fund families and/or asset classes.Focus of activities
- Fund operations and NAV control- Overseeing Man Group's middle office operations for funds, with a focus on fund NAV controls, including daily pricing and NAV calculations
- Securities pricing, position valuations, fund/share class performance validation, FX hedging effectiveness, NAV reconciliation, security valuation, and portfolio performance
- Communicating with fund administrators to clarify discrepancies related to NAVs and respond to accounting inquiries
- Monitoring the recording and processing of subscriptions/redemptions and daily gains/losses
- Review of foreign exchange exposures and currency hedging for capital inflows/outflows
- Use of financial data analysis and systems (e.g., Bloomberg, vendor data, Excel) to review and analyze fund profit and loss accounts across asset classes, including exchange-traded instruments and OTC derivatives
- Validation of fund profit and loss at the security level using risk-based measures (e.g., Greeks)
- Preparation of daily NAV estimates
- Identifying and promoting opportunities for system and process improvements
- Utilization of internal systems and technology tools (e.g., Python, Confluence) to enhance reporting and control processes and provide efficient solutions to support business requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., fund managers, product structurers, legal and compliance experts, trading, operations, tax, and financial control) and investors to ensure the accurate setup and ongoing operation of funds
- Support with onboarding new mandates, restructuring, or closures to ensure that they comply with product specifications and control processes
- Participation in governance committees and administrator meetings to ensure the quality and effectiveness of price governance and controls
- Review and mitigation of price risks, documentation and communication of improvements to governance frameworks
- Monitoring the reconciliation and reporting of management and performance fees to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements
