Middle Office Officer
The Middle Office Officer is responsible for processing and verifying payments, managing nostro accounts, and assisting with back-office tasks. The position requires a bachelor’s degree, experience in the back-office or middle-office field, and strong analytical skills.
Job description
The position of Middle Office Officer involves various responsibilities in the areas of payment processing and control, nostro account management, and back office operations.Tasks
The main tasks include:- Processing of SEPA credit transfers (SCT / SCT Inst) and international SWIFT payments (MT103, MT202, pacs.008)
- Verification of payment order compliance: IBAN, BIC, recipient details, verification of the payee (VXP)
- Identification and management of suspended payments, rejections, and returns (R-transactions)
- Monitoring of urgent and high-value payments via SEPA or TARGET2 / T2
- Application of sanctions screening procedures (EU, OFAC lists) within the regulatory export period
- Daily monitoring of liquidity positions in nostro accounts with correspondent banks
- Reconciliation of Nostro reports with posted transactions (MT940/MT950 reconciliation)
- Identifying and resolving reconciliation errors within specified timeframes
- Management of outstanding items and escalation to correspondent banks in the event of discrepancies
- Optimization of intraday balances in coordination with Treasury
Requirements
The requirements for this position include:- At least a bachelor's degree, ideally in banking, law, finance, or a related field
- Proven experience in a back-office or middle-office role, preferably involving cash and securities transactions
- Solid understanding of and experience with transaction-related regulatory reporting, including CDOP, CESOP, Emre Rett, and other relevant regulations
- A background in back-office banking operations with experience in tax-related regulatory matters is preferred
- Strong analytical skills for identifying, analyzing, and correcting errors and discrepancies in regulatory reporting
- Proven ability to drive process optimization initiatives and implement best practices
- A high level of attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and compliance of regulatory reports and reconciliations
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders
