Model Validation Quantitative Analyst (Generative AI/Agentic AI)
The Julius Baer Group is seeking a Model Validation Quantitative Analyst (GenAI/Agentic AI) in Madrid to perform independent technical validations of financial and non-financial models and assess models for their validity and risks. The ideal candidate holds a college degree in a quantitative field and has at least two years of experience with non-financial models such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Tasks
The Model Validation - Quantitative Analyst is a key member of the Model Risk Management team and is responsible for conducting independent technical validations of non-financial (e.g., compliance, machine learning/artificial intelligence/generative AI) and financial (e.g., stress testing, liquidity/ALM, credit risk, market risk, investment/research) models. Responsibilities include:- Testing of model assumptions, validity, implementation, adequacy of input data, model parameters, and the accuracy of their calibration
- Conducting model risk assessments
- Identification and assessment of model limitations, as well as evaluation of the overall risk of new and existing models
- Preparation and delivery of high-quality model validation reports to demonstrate robust, challenge- and risk-based validation results
- Monitoring and reviewing model risk mitigation activities and ensuring compliance with model validation requirements
Requirements
The following requirements apply to this position:- Advanced degree in a quantitative field (artificial intelligence, mathematics, engineering, quantitative finance); master’s or doctoral level; FRM or PRM certification is a plus
- Extensive knowledge and, preferably, at least 2 years of experience with non-financial models (e.g., machine learning, artificial intelligence, generative AI / agentic AI)
- Experience with financial models (e.g., liquidity/ALM, stress testing, IRRBB, market risk, credit risk, investment/research/ESG) would be an advantage
- Programming experience in languages such as Python, R, and SQL
- Ability to work independently, taking the initiative to define the scope of validation, design independent technical tests, and clarify and report results
- A results-oriented individual with outstanding interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (German is a plus)
- Customer-focused and able to communicate effectively with business partners and explain complex topics to a diverse audience
