Operational Python Data Analyst

The Operational Python Data Analyst role offers the opportunity to work in Investment Operations at Man Group, combining technical skills with business insights. The role involves supporting and maintaining systems, technical analysis, and project delivery, specifically using Python, SQL, and other technologies.

Job description: Operational Python Data Analyst

Tasks

  • As a technical resource expert, provide support for inquiries/issues related to reconciling Duxco/Tableau/Python queries and ensure timely resolution of inquiries related to re-reconciliation/data flow.
  • Processing requests via the newly introduced MS Dynamics/SharePoint platform, developing new processes/Tableau dashboards, using other internal/external hosted solutions
  • Development of Python solutions to improve and automate processes, contributing to reducing department costs
  • Representation of the Investment Operations Solutions team at Man Group
  • Simplification, improvement, and standardization of processes and technology requirements and enhancements
  • Continuous improvement of data quality and consistency within investment operations, e.g., creation of stock lists and holdings, script planning, database design, use of existing Microsoft products (e.g., Power BI, SQL, SharePoint), data validation and monitoring, performance analysis, etc.

Requirements

Technical skills

  • Python - Intermediate level: Familiarity with core Python programming, knowledge of data manipulation and data analysis libraries such as NumPy and Pandas, data processing workflows and ETLs, operations with Python, merging and/or retrieving data
  • Excel / Financial Markets - Familiarity with advanced Excel functionality, including lookups and formatting, ability to create dynamic formulas and perform comprehensive data analysis tasks, formatting, ability to extract dynamic data models
  • SQL - Intermediate level: Understanding of relational database concepts with familiarity in creating queries in multiple environments
  • MS SQL (or similar) - NVL, LTRIM, STUFF, etc.
  • Power BI – Basic knowledge of the Common Data Model (CDM)
  • GDPR - Awareness of how to work with both organizational and non-organizational data
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in asking questions
