Operational Python Data Analyst

The Operational Python Data Analyst supports the Solutions Team within Investment Operations in the technical analysis and development of tools to automate processes and improve data quality. The employee will act as a technical contact for data and Python queries and work on the development of dashboards and reports.

Purpose of the role

This hybrid role offers an ideal opportunity for a candidate with a technical mindset to work within the Man Group Operations team. The team and company culture provides the chance to gain 2-3 years of technical experience and develop a career while improving technical skills and gaining a better understanding of how large investment management companies operate.

Tasks

  • Act as technical contact and technical support for Data/Tableau/Python inquiries and ensure timely resolution of inquiries related to data flow coordination.
  • Process data through the MS movement process, which involves redesigning existing Tableau dashboards/charts, developing new Tableau/Power BI dashboards, and creating customized reports/other internal/externally hosted solutions.
  • Develop Python tools and scripts to improve and automate data processing tasks to reduce the department's delivery costs.
  • Replace the Investment Operations Solutions Team across Man Group
  • Maintain, improve, and document processes and technology requirements and enhancements
  • Continuously improve data quality and consistency
  • Work collaboratively and strategically with stakeholders and other teams, including but not limited to: Information Systems, Risk, Compliance, Product Teams, etc., as well as external correspondents (such as executing brokers, prime brokers, etc.).

Requirements

Technical skills

  • Python - intermediate level: Confident in core Python programming with working knowledge of data manipulation and data processing libraries, including Pandas and NumPy
  • Power BI/Excel - intermediate level: Confident in data processing workflows and ETLs powered by Python, formatting, and data visualization tools
  • SQL - intermediate level: Understanding of relational database concepts with confidence in creating queries for data extraction. Able to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data, SQL (e.g., Hive, SQL Server). LATT/BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI (COTS)
  • A good understanding of how trade organizations work
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort in asking questions
