Operational Risk Analyst
The position of Operational Risk Analyst at EFG International in Lugano, Zurich, or Geneva involves monitoring and improving the bank’s risk management and internal controls. The Operational Risk Analyst works closely with the first line of defense to identify and assess operational risks and ensure that processes and systems align with the bank’s risk appetite.
Job Description
The Operational Risk Analyst position is part of the Operational Risk function and focuses on strengthening the Bank’s risk management and internal control framework worldwide. As a key risk partner on the first line of defense, this role involves independently assessing and monitoring operational risks to ensure that processes, systems, and activities align with the Bank’s risk profile.Tasks
The main tasks include:- To oversee the effective and consistent implementation and maintenance of the risk and control management framework worldwide.
- Contribute to thematic risk and control assessments across a wide range of topics, including back- and middle-office operations, funds, securities, payments, corporate actions, and order execution, through collaboration with other stakeholders.
- Conduct process reviews and control tests to facilitate the identification and assessment of risks and controls.
- Proactively escalate material control weaknesses and communicate them effectively; work closely with key stakeholders in the relevant functions to define appropriate action plans and monitor their timely implementation.
- Provide expertise and recommendations for improvements to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Requirements
The requirements for this position include:- Master’s degree in business administration, economics, or a technical field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in the banking sector (ideally in risk control, audit, or business risk management) or in consulting/at a leading professional services firm; a combination of both is considered an advantage.
- A strong understanding of banking processes and systems, products, and related regulatory requirements. Experience with core banking systems and front-end systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of German, French, or Italian is a plus.
- Proven ability to write reports and communicate effectively with senior management.
- Self-motivated, conscientious, highly organized, able to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
- An innovative mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
