Operations Oversight Associate (6-Month Contract)

As an Operations Oversight Associate at Nomura in London, you will lead a small team for six months and manage the day-to-day operations of the Operations Oversight Group. Your main responsibilities include maintaining a robust control environment, escalating trading issues, and monitoring KPIs and KRIs.

Role Overview

  • We are seeking a finance professional to manage the day-to-day operations of the Operations Oversight Group (OEG) and lead a small team of Operations Management Leads.

Key Objectives Critical to Success

  • Manage and maintain a robust control environment to mitigate exceptional errors and related risks associated with our trades.
  • Serve as an escalation point/subject matter expert (SME) for internal stakeholders to assist the operations team in resolving issues, including repo and trade settlement disruptions, and addressing items identified during the controls review processes.
  • Compilation and review of daily KRI's and KPI's via dashboards.
  • Maintain regular communication with the broader teams at Powal, India, while building cross-team relationships.
  • Participating in key projects, understanding the requirements of the current business, and assisting with the achievement of milestones leading up to project delivery.
  • Client Money Review and Verification.
  • Provide BCP/PIR coverage for any critical offshore processes.

Required Skills, Experience, Qualifications, and Knowledge

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that enable the individual to liaise effectively and share information with Nomura’s operations, internal stakeholders, external authorities, and other business partners as appropriate.
  • Effective prioritization with the ability to highlight key dependencies and ensure the completion of critical deliverables.
  • All skills (preferred) / Power BI (preferred) / Excel skills (required)
  • Work effectively within an extended team environment (onshore and offshore) and take a keen interest in developing the function, whether internally or through external meetings.
  • A self-starter who is able to work proactively to identify opportunities for process improvement and/or cost savings.
  • Good organizational skills and time management to actively improve productivity.
  • Elevate Organizational Capability: Proactively engage in process improvement and achieve performance improvements through innovation, continuous improvement, and the enhancement, learning, and development of teams, and foster these efforts.
