PBS - Business Support

For the PBS - Business Support position in Hong Kong, we are seeking an experienced professional with 8–12 years of experience in private banking to lead operational compliance, risk management, and process optimization. The candidate will serve as the central point of contact for regulatory matters, audit management, and strategic projects, working closely with PB management and the market groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee an effective, risk-managed, and regulatory-compliant operating environment for the Private Banking (“PB”) function based in Hong Kong, serving as a key partner to PB management and Market Group Heads.
  • Drive and sponsor branch-wide initiatives and PB-related strategic projects covering regulatory alignment, processes and procedures, employee guidance and training, and ensure effective governance, quality, and alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Serve as the central point of coordination and escalation for complex issues, such as regulatory changes, client complaints, incidents, risks, and compliance matters, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication to senior stakeholders.
  • Lead data-driven analysis and management reporting, including tracking progress on key deliverables and strategic initiatives.
  • Own and coordinate PB's responses to audits and operational risk issues; ensure robust remediation plans and appropriate PB representation on risk and compliance governance committees.
  • Oversees onboarding and training frameworks for PB and client-facing departments, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with regulatory and internal standards; drives system and process changes as needed.
  • Responsible for managing suitability check processes in the front office; identify necessary changes to systems and processes.
  • Lead and manage ad hoc projects and initiatives, as well as other duties assigned by the PB COO, ensuring effective project governance, stakeholder engagement, and delivery by the agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Represent the front office in working groups and forums to promote change, including the proactive identification of emerging risks.
  • Partner with Business Risk Management to continuously strengthen and embed a robust risk culture and sound conduct throughout PB, including the effectiveness and efficiency of the First Line of Defense.
  • Demonstrate exemplary conduct and serve as a role model for the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct, setting clear expectations and standards for the broader team.
  • Foster collaboration and innovation by providing guidance and informal leadership to team members and contributing to talent development within PB COO Business Support.

Skills and Experience

  • A degree holder with 8–12 years of experience in a private banking environment, including experience in risk, control, or COO/business management functions.
  • A strong and broad understanding of banking processes, products, and services, and the ability to break down complex topics and present clear recommendations to management.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to organize complex topics and drive them toward a resolution. (VBA/coding skills may be a plus but are not essential.)
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analytics tools is a plus.
  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and resilient, able to work under pressure; capable of structuring and driving business cases forward, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • A strategic and innovative mindset, with the ability to challenge the status quo, identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency, and drive implementation through to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and locations.
