Platform Operations Engineer
The Platform Operations Engineer is responsible for maintaining and operating trading systems that execute billions of trades per year, supporting the scalability and reliability of these systems. The role involves monitoring production systems, implementing changes, and collaborating with business partners and engineers.
Purpose of the role
Man Group develops and operates trading systems that execute trillions of trades each year. To support these systems and ensure they are scalable, this role is part of a team that provides operational support, incident triage, and change control for internal and external applications across the Man Group network. Monitoring production systems and working closely with business users and engineers to enable rapid changes to the network.Specific responsibilities
- Monitoring the production network, responding to alarms, and escalating issues to support and development teams
- Implementation of changes to our production systems across the entire network
- Facilitation of HL2 (high-level IT) processes across the entire technology area (change, incident, and problem management)
- Responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the managed platform product used at Man
Key competencies
- Communication skills are crucial; you will be working with a wide range of people, from senior executives to junior developers and operators; you must feel comfortable at every level, and your duties will require contact with shift personnel outside of working hours.
- 2+ years of experience in platform operations support
- Attention to detail and commitment to the responsibilities of the role
- Advanced knowledge of the network
- Practical knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
- Basic knowledge of Git, Python, or PowerShell
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (escalation)
- Ability to work flexible hours and shifts, including late-night (US) shifts
