Platform Owner (Full-Time) (f/m/d)
Julius Baer is seeking a Platform Owner to lead and oversee the technical vision and operations of its global data platform offering. The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of experience in technical roles at large, regulated companies and experience in the field of data platforms.
Tasks
- Define and maintain the end-to-end technical vision, the multi-year roadmap, and the lifecycle strategy for the global data platform
- Gather requirements and maintain relationships with current and potential users to ensure that the technical vision and roadmap support their current and future business goals
- Ensuring platform scalability, reliability, performance, and security; incorporating non-functional requirements (NFRs); observability; automation; and principles of resilience by design
- Lead the prioritization and delivery of platform features and capabilities; collaborate with product managers, Scrum Masters, development teams, the system architect, and the release train engineer to coordinate work across Agile teams
- Responsibility for the platform backlog, ensuring that clear initiatives, features, and user stories are in place, prioritizing delivery, and balancing trade-offs between innovation, technical debt reduction, and operational stability
- Primary technical point of contact for incidents, issues, audits, and risk findings related to the platform
- Set up and monitor SLAs, SLOs, and KPIs; use metrics and OKRs to measure platform health, usage, team performance, and business value
- Driving standardization, reuse, and simplification across the platform ecosystem to reduce complexity, improve interoperability, and accelerate time to market
- Coaching and leading technical leads and development teams, promoting best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and incident response
- Develop the target operating model for platform operations, including staffing, governance, RACI definitions, and handover processes, to support sustainable growth and efficient operating models
- Representing the platform in executive forums and governance bodies; communicating progress, risks, investments, and strategic decisions to stakeholders across technology and business areas
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
- At least 10 years of experience in technology roles within large, regulated companies, preferably in the financial services sector
- Proven experience in implementing, managing, or scaling large data platforms, preferably big data technology
- Proven experience in defining and delivering technical platform visions and roadmaps within the company
- Experience in addressing audit findings or IT risk issues
- Excellent technical leadership and systems thinking, with the ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term platform sustainability
- Strong communication skills at all levels, with the ability to summarize complex issues for senior management while also discussing them in detail with technical teams
- Expertise in software lifecycle governance, technical debt management, vulnerability remediation, and release approval processes
