Portfolio Analyst, Tax-Savvy

The Portfolio Analyst supports the portfolio management team in the day-to-day implementation of investment strategies and contributes to the performance and analysis of Man Systematics' investment strategies. The role offers the opportunity to develop core skills in portfolio management, investment analysis, and data science.

Purpose of the role

The role of Portfolio Analyst offers an exceptional opportunity to develop core skills in portfolio management, investment analysis, and data science as part of a dynamic team. As a member of our Systematic Investment Strategies team, you will support the development and monitoring of investment strategies, contribute to performance analysis, and assist with risk management and the generation of investment ideas.

Specific responsibilities

  • Supporting the portfolio management team in the day-to-day implementation of investment strategies
  • Supporting portfolio analysts with trade preparation, data validation, and rebalancing workflows
  • Numbering and tagging portfolio positions or providing support for data science projects involving more advanced analyses
  • Conducting qualitative analyses of portfolio performance, risk exposures, and factor attributes
  • Assistance with preparing client materials, including performance commentary and market updates
  • Support with data management tasks; data entry and updates are handled exclusively by the team
  • Collaboration with the research group on the review and validation of model improvements

Key competencies

  • 0–2 years of experience in portfolio management, investment research, or a related quantitative field (internship experience will be considered)
  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering; computer science; or a master’s degree is a plus)
  • Basic understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction, and risk concepts
  • Familiarity with programming languages and financial data analysis
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other statistical/programming tools
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • A willingness to learn and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • A strong sense of integrity and work ethic

Salary

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $140,000 (USD).
