Portfolio Management Specialist (M/F)

The Portfolio Management Specialist supports the Investment Management team in managing portfolios in Asia, with a focus on discretionary portfolio management and data analysis. The role involves providing portfolio support, conducting data analysis, and driving business improvements to enhance the efficiency of the investment business.

Job description

Reporting to the Head of Investment Management Asia, you will support the Investment Management team with a strong focus on discretionary portfolio management (DPM) in Asia. The role combines portfolio support, data analysis, and business improvement. You will help improve the efficiency of the investment business line.

Tasks

  • Supporting the DPM team’s daily portfolio management activities, including opening and closing accounts and handling operational matters
  • Execution of asset allocation and investment strategies, as directed by the central and regional investment committees, across equities, bonds, funds, structured products, and foreign exchange for discretionary portfolios
  • Assistance in preparing marketing proposals, presentation materials, and daily/weekly market commentary for internal and client communications
  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness in portfolio performance
  • Preparation of regular and ad hoc investment review reports for clients
  • Extensive experience with portfolio construction, portfolio management, and risk management processes
  • Develop and improve risk management and investment management tools for the DPM team to enhance the local risk management framework

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field, ideally with a focus on computer engineering, financial engineering, or related disciplines
  • 2–5 years of experience in private banking/investment management; product support preferred
  • Preference is given to candidates who have passed CFA Levels 1 and 2 and are currently registered as an RFP with the MAS

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and business intelligence tools
  • Demonstrated strong research, investigative, and logical skills, as well as quantitative and analytical abilities

  • Effective communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask
  • Strong interpersonal skills, hands-on and independent with a "can-do" attitude
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to operational excellence
  • Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Mandarin (both written and spoken) would be an asset in supporting business with North Asian markets and Chinese-speaking clients (China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan)

Technical skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (required)
  • VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) for Automation
  • Familiarity with data management tools such as Power BI, Python, and SQL is preferred
  • Experience with data integration and APIs such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and internal banking systems is a plus
