Principal Network Architect

Tasks

• Lead the design of the new global network architecture, including the core, distribution, and access layers
• Development of solutions that integrate enterprise, cloud, and data center environments (hybrid networks)
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define network requirements (performance, availability, security, data residency, latency, etc.)
• Development and refinement of network architecture principles and standards for enterprise-wide implementations
• Design, optimization, and support of the organization's network architecture
• Providing strategic network solutions that comply with security standards, performance goals, and regulatory requirements
• Developing designs that effectively convey the right ideas and stand out among one of the largest groups in this communication context

Requirements

• More than 15 years of experience in network design and architecture
• Proven track record in leading highly complex network architecture initiatives in enterprise environments
• A strong understanding of end-to-end network architecture and how its components relate to one another
• Experience with SD-WAN architectures (e.g., Cisco Catalyst, ThousandEyes, Versa, etc.)
• In-depth understanding of cloud network topologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid integrations
• Expertise in IPsec, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, VXLAN, EVPN, NAT, QoS, and other enterprise routing and switching technologies
• Practical experience with major networking platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, F5, FortiGate, Palo Alto, etc.)
• Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, Python-based automation)
• Familiarity with Zero Trust networking and SASE frameworks (Zscaler, Cloudflare, Palo Alto, etc.)
• Proficiency in Cisco Modeling Lane, Visio, and supporting tools for solution design
• Previous experience conducting wire-speed or performance evaluations (RTT, jitter, throughput)
• Ability to coach and lead teams; proven track record in building and developing network professionals
• Excellent presentation and consulting skills at the executive level
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
• The candidate must be legally authorized to work in the Netherlands

Desirable

• Certification(s) in routing/switching or network design (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent)
• Experience with the network architecture of cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with SD-WAN, SASE, and Zscaler Private Access frameworks
• Previous work experience in the financial services sector, the insurance industry, or at large global companies
