Tasks

The Algo Research Team is responsible for alpha research across various time horizons (ranging from high-frequency to 48 hours), the design of diversification strategies, and market impact modeling across all major asset classes (including cash, futures, and FX options). The purpose of this role is to research, develop, and manage strategies that enhance Man Group’s global trading in financial markets using high-frequency techniques.

Key aspects of the role

- High-frequency alpha research: Design, implementation, and deployment of tick data functions and machine learning models for short time horizons - Trading strategy management: Writing strategy logic, performing post-trade analysis, and managing production deployments of high-frequency trading algorithms - Global asset classes: Responsibility for Man Group’s internal algorithmic execution in global equities, global futures, and other liquid electronic asset classes - Stakeholder management: Regularly communicating updates and plans to research leadership, global trading, and business management

Requirements and Key Competencies

- 5+ years of experience in quantitative finance, ideally at a proprietary trading firm or hedge fund - 2+ years of experience with high-frequency trading strategies or high-frequency trading algorithm design, or analytical experience - 2+ years of experience in high-frequency trading using C++ and/or Python - 1+ year of experience with machine learning techniques is a plus - PhD or exceptional master’s/bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field - Expertise in Python and Linux environments - Strong knowledge of C++, Java, or another low-level programming language - Ability to write clear, precise, and informative technical research reports
