Principal, Tech Project Manager - Cybersecurity Delivery Lead
Northern Trust is seeking a Principal Tech Project Manager with over 12 years of experience to coordinate strategic cybersecurity initiatives in London and oversee the end-to-end delivery of security solutions. The role requires in-depth knowledge of the financial sector, risk management, and project management, as well as the ability to lead global teams on complex cybersecurity projects.
Overview
- This is a newly created position for an individual who has at least 12 years of extensive experience managing the implementation of projects, product initiatives, and/or technology solutions, along with relevant subject matter expertise in delivering these elements at financial institutions.
- As a Principal, Tech Project Manager—Cybersecurity Delivery Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating strategic cybersecurity initiatives across the entire Northern Trust cybersecurity ecosystem and will serve as the steward of end-to-end cybersecurity delivery, including security posture, incident response/governance, critical vulnerability remediation, and platform modernization initiatives.
- A customer-focused, strategic professional with a broad range of technical skills and in-depth expertise in cybersecurity, financial services, and technology product management.
Tasks
- Project Management and Governance:
- Provision of project/program management oversight, including process and workstream governance.
- Development of program architecture, structure, systems engineering, and cybersecurity and related technical workstream breakdown structures.
- Delivery and documentation of the technical scope, options, and scope alignment with program and product release goals.
- Provision of a resilient, full-cycle project management delivery model (release design, planning, scoping, execution, product delivery, governance, release testing, training, feedback, review, regression testing, deployment, etc.).
- Reviewing project plans and ensuring that priority areas are correctly prioritized.
- Identifying, resolving, and managing project risks, issues, and opportunities to ensure successful delivery.
- Management of project scoping and efficient documentation of progress.
- Creating a resilient project environment that encourages the use of lessons, feedback, and evaluations.
- Project Deployment:
- Guiding global teams in communication and non-technical discussions to coordinate global changes, improve the user experience, and so on, in the most efficient way possible.
- Promoting best programming practices, standards, and user-centered design within teams.
- Security, Data, and Governance Support:
- Development, refinement, and implementation of architectures, contingency plans, and scenarios for the integration of cybersecurity, data governance, third-party risk management, etc.
- Contribution to the architecture; review of processes that are regularly refined and optimized for efficiency.
- Facilitate architecture meetings to develop a roadmap for the client's strategic requirements.
- Application of risk-based and compliance-based analysis and design practices to make accurate and secure cybersecurity decisions.
- Participation in technical governance and risk-related meetings.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Promoting project clarity, value, and the overall project presentation.
- Lead and participate in meetings to define key milestones and dependencies from cross-functional perspectives (business, technology operations, cybersecurity engineering, etc.).
- Data and Strategy Leadership:
- Definition and documentation of implementation issues and alignment of scope with product project approval objectives.
- Achieve new product release goals when progress on team project deliverables stalls.

- Problem-solving and managing the client's budget requirements based on market factors that affect a project.
