Production Support Engineer

The Production Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to investment professionals, traders and support functions at Man Group, ensuring a robust tech infrastructure. The role includes L2 and L3 application support for order management systems as well as incident and problem management.

About the role

We are looking for a Production Support Engineer with 2-5 years of experience working on an order management system (e.g. Bloomberg EMS or similar). The ideal Support Engineer role offers the opportunity to work with our best investment professionals, traders, operations teams and technologists to ensure we efficiently generate alpha across the markets we trade.

Tasks

  • Technical and business support from investment professionals, execution traders and support functions, including rapid resolution of app issues, stability and improvement measures to keep the business responsive to changing market conditions
  • First and second level application support for business systems with escalation to software development teams, infrastructure technology teams and users or third parties as required
  • Incident and problem management, including post-incident reviews and resolution of follow-up tasks, including ensuring platform stability, data integrity and alignment with higher benchmarks and standards
  • Record and manage issues with Zendesk and track until successful resolution
  • Identify recurring issues that require development effort and escalate and prioritize these items
  • Monitoring of hardware, applications and environmental conditions of our order management systems with tools such as Splunk or similar (without coding)
  • Management of production protection versions of our order management systems
  • Participation in disaster recovery planning, updating run books and DR tests
  • Ensuring that all procedures and guidelines are up to date and available in the knowledge repository
  • Writing SQL scripts to resolve user queries, testing and scheduling weekend or weekday releases
  • Providing on-call and off-site support when the business requires it

Requirements

Required skills and experience

  • 2+ years of experience providing business and technical application support for a financial services institution
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in written and oral form
  • Strong desire to develop and deliver
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to organize and deliver complex and time-sensitive workloads

Desired skills and experience

  • Experience in working with front office teams such as portfolio managers or traders
  • Interest in exploring the way people work and how it can make them more efficient in their role
  • Ability to quickly gain an understanding and expertise in new technologies, systems and business processes
  • Familiarity with the FIX protocol
  • Good understanding of the trading cycle for FICC and equities
  • Experience in writing SQL queries
