Proxy Voting Team Leader/Supervisor
Man Group is seeking a motivated team leader for its proxy voting team in London to ensure operational oversight, data quality, and regulatory compliance in the exercise of voting rights. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in investment banking or operational roles, as well as a thorough understanding of the relevant regulatory frameworks.
Job Profile Summary
- We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our proxy voting team.
- This role is ideal for an individual with strong research skills and proven experience, who is capable of performing due diligence analysis and conducting in-depth business research.
- You should have extensive experience in investment risk management and analysis, including key performance indicators, securities data quality assurance, and serving as the primary point of contact with our external stakeholders, while ensuring that the proxy voting team remains the foundation of both client and internal processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight - Take a lead role in the end-to-end management of daily proxy voting obligations across Man Group's asset classes, ensuring timely and accurate proxy voting actions.
- High-priority, ad hoc issue resolution.
- Team Support – Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the proxy voting team, ensuring its smooth operation.
- Platform Operations – Serve as the primary source of information and troubleshooting support for the Group. Stay up to date on platform updates, system changes, and functional information.
- Tooling Experience - Gain a thorough understanding of system operations, create test tools and workflows within the tools, and implement them efficiently to drive product advancement.
- Data Quality & Controls - Oversee and enhance security, ensure integrity, mitigate systemic issues, and implement countermeasures, exception management, and audit trail integrity; migrate electronic copies as appropriate.
- Regulatory & Legal Compliance - Work closely with internal teams, monitor regulatory updates, implement policy updates, and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations. Provide regular updates.
- Relationship Building – Build and maintain effective relationships with the firm, internal clients, external stakeholders (firm committees, compliance, legal), and external platforms, systems, and partner capabilities.
- Reporting & Governance – Lead the preparation of regular reports and materials for internal governance committees and client reporting on topics such as quarterly and annual proxy voting procedures.
- Continuous Improvement - Proactively identify and implement innovations in the proxy voting process, enabling compliance, automation opportunities, and enhanced controls to help improve our platform.
- Professional Development – Stay up to date on professional activities, ensure compliance with current requirements, and align yourself with regulatory standards and best practices.
Experience & Qualifications
- + X year(s) of experience in investment banking, operations, supervising an operations function, or a related position at an investment firm.
- + Knowledge of at least one of the following: standard proxy, voting platform, FSE, or GSE Exchange, or an equivalent system.
- + Proficient in handling and using: the use and monitoring of proxy voting activities in connection with proxy voting obligations.
- + Demonstrated experience in establishing high standards of data quality, including reconciliation and exception management.
- + A solid understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks (SEC, ICR, GDPR, EU UCITS IV, and related regulations)
- + Sufficient knowledge of risk, proxies, and practical risk management
- + Familiarity with the U.S./DC/SEC/IECF securities framework and proxy voting rules
- + Experience in operational, workflow, and/or financial investment projects
- + Experience with regulatory reporting and audit due diligence processes
