About the role

As a Quant Developer at Man Group, you will be part of one of our flagship teams in Man's systematic trading arm - Man AHL. The team works closely with quant researchers to focus on equity market neutral models. Your changes will be valued and you will help build new applications and new trading strategies.

Requirements

Essential

• Excellent technical skills; recognized by your colleagues as an expert in your field
• Strong interest in and understanding of financial markets and instruments
• Background in computer science, software engineering, mathematics; experience with agile development, continuous integration, code reviews, unit testing, refactoring and related approaches
• Strong knowledge of Python
• Experience with Linux platforms and knowledge of various scripting languages
• Experience with data analysis techniques and relevant libraries (e.g. NumPy/Scipy/Pandas)
• Relevant mathematical knowledge (e.g. statistics, asset pricing theory, optimization algorithms)

Advantageous

• Experience with front-office quantitative software development (e.g. in a hedge fund or investment bank)
• Experience with web-based development and visualization technology for displaying large and complex data sets and information
• Experience with machine learning techniques, natural language processing and related libraries and frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, TensorFlow)

Personal characteristics

• Strong academic background and a degree with high mathematical and computational content (e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering or physics from a leading university)
• Collaborative approach to software development; take pride in technical excellence and embed these values in others
• Passion for technology (e.g. personal projects, open source participation)
• Intellectually robust with an analytical approach to problem solving
• Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing technical requirements and priorities
• Focused on delivering value to the business with relentless efforts to improve processes
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to build close working relationships with quant researchers, traders and senior business people
• Confident communication; able to explain a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views of others
