Quant Researcher

Man Group is seeking a Quant Researcher to further develop and enhance quantitative methodologies for the firm's discretionary investment strategy. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development and enhancement of discretionary investment strategies through quantitative research and innovation.

Job description: Quant Researcher

Tasks

  • Work closely with discretionary portfolio managers to add value to their process through signal development, data-based modeling and testing/implementing strategy heuristics
  • Contribution to discretionary portfolio management using tools: signal creation/validation, optimization, backtesting and implementation of signals using traditional and alternative data sources
  • Industry and academic research for innovation in quantitative strategies (and in general) and support on how discretionary (or hybrid) PBs can benefit from it
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate complex technical concepts to a less technical audience using quantitative methods effectively
  • Updating with market trends and continuously looking for ways to improve existing processes or develop new quantitative methods

Requirements

  • Familiarity with market-neutral investment strategies
  • Ability to explain technical details to a less technical general audience
  • Knowledge/understanding of the structure and drivers of returns on the financial markets
  • Experience with risk models for both equity and credit markets
  • Experience as a discretionary (or hybrid) PM, preferably at mid-level
  • Strong knowledge of Python and experience with data analysis techniques as well as relevant technical (e.g. C++ or similar) and data analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel
  • Previous experience with option pricing models is an advantage
  • 2+ years experience as a quantitative researcher or in a similar role
