Tasks

As a Quant Developer at Man Group, you will be part of one of our flagship teams in Man's systematic trading arm - our AIs. The team works closely with quant researchers focused on building quantitative models and with the trading floor. Their challenges will be varied and include building new alpha models and trading strategies.

Requirements

Essential requirements

  • Excellent technical skills; recognized by your peers as an expert in your field
  • A strong interest in and understanding of financial markets and instruments
  • A propensity for strong collaborative software engineering techniques and methodologies; able to develop, continuous integration, code review; unit testing; refactoring and related approaches
  • Strong knowledge of Python
  • Experience with Linux platforms and knowledge of various scripting languages
  • Experience with data analysis techniques and relevant libraries, e.g. NumPy/Pandas
  • Relevant mathematical knowledge, e.g. statistics; stochastic processes; optimization algorithms

Desired requirements

  • Experience with front-office quantitative software development, e.g. in a hedge fund or investment bank
  • Experience with web-based development and visualization technology for displaying large and complex data sets and relationships
  • Experience with machine learning techniques, natural language processing and related libraries and frameworks, e.g. scikit-learn, TensorFlow
  • Experience with APIs (e.g. FIX)

Personal characteristics

  • Strong academic background and a degree with high mathematical and computational content, e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering/physics from a leading university
  • A hands-on approach to software development; taking pride in technical excellence and delivering these values to others
  • Show passion for technology, e.g. personal projects; open source participation
  • Methodically robust with a strong analytical approach to problem solving
  • Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing business needs and priorities
  • Focused on delivering value to the business with relentless efforts to improve processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to build a close working relationship with quantitative researchers, traders and senior business people
  • Confident communicator; able to get a point across accurately and deal positively with conflicting views
