Quantitative Researcher - AUM

Man Group is seeking a Quantitative Researcher with an advanced degree in a quantitative field and strong programming skills for a hybrid position in London. The candidate will contribute to financial strategy optimization through data science, machine learning, and the development of algorithmic trading strategies.

Major Responsibilities

  • Alpha's Innovation Finance Strategies for Large Private Funds (LONG-ONLY); More than 100 alpha and alpha generation & risk management tools, providing a consistently risk-managed market
  • Data Science & Machine Learning, algorithms, and research activities aimed at optimizing algorithms; machine learning research and development—including both the development of new proprietary algorithmic models AND the use of third-party systems, such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and various external consultants
  • Infrastructure/DevOps: Responsible for building and deploying our IT systems that support our employees and operate automated and scalable research environments
  • Operations: Support all business units—both new and existing—by providing exceptional client support, ensuring compliance, and delivering results on time.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, financial mathematics, or a related quantitative field, with strong practical coding skills
  • A passion for financial markets, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of major financial markets (equities, fixed income, commodities, foreign exchange, alternatives, cryptocurrencies)
  • Strong technical skills in trading (e.g., Python, C++, Java, SQL, MATLAB) combined with excellent communication skills; experience with high-frequency trading (HFT) would be a plus.
  • Ability to communicate complex data issues using storytelling techniques to collaborate with other users across London, Paris, New York, and Singapore
  • Work in a cross-functional environment where they can demonstrate a strong sense of ownership
  • A growth mindset and a strong desire to continue developing their own skill set
