Quantitative Researcher
Man Group is seeking a Quantitative Researcher specializing in cash equities who is capable of developing and implementing high-quality predictive models to maximize the firm’s returns. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, experience in developing machine learning techniques, and the ability to collaborate with other researchers and developers as part of a team.
Tasks
The responsibilities of a Quantitative Researcher include:- Generation of high-quality intraday alpha signals for cash equities based on order book and alternative data
- Development of ML techniques for alpha research
- Market tests and in silico model impact tests
- Solving optimal execution optimization problems
- Identifying the greatest P&L opportunities
- Close collaboration with researchers throughout the company
Requirements
Essential requirements:- Ability to think creatively and to carry out original research and develop innovative ideas
- Excellent analytical skills; recognized by colleagues as an expert in his field
- A deep understanding of data structures and the ability to solve problems or contribute to their solution
- Expert knowledge in a high-level language such as Python or R
- Knowledge of market structure, participants, trading venues, and microstructure for at least one of the major asset classes
- Experience in intraday alpha research
- Experience with statistical models
- Experience with processing large amounts of data and tick data
Personal characteristics
- PhD or an exceptional master’s or bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field
- Integrity combined with an analytical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams across the organization
- A hands-on approach, willing to tackle business matters and projects across the entire company
- Self-motivated, with an exceptional track record of delivering results across multiple projects and amid competing business demands and priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills; adaptable and able to establish and maintain close working relationships with quantitative researchers, data engineers, traders, and business leaders
- Effective communication; able to present a point clearly and concisely and to handle conflicting views
