Man Group is seeking a Quantitative Researcher for its Macro Division in London who, with an advanced degree in a quantitative field, will develop new trading strategies and models. The role requires strong programming skills in Python and Java, as well as experience in statistical analysis and machine learning to support investment decisions.
Job Description
- We are looking for a Quantitative Researcher to join our Macro Division.
- As a key member of our team, you’ll play an important role in advancing our research capabilities. Your role will involve both theoretical research and the practical implementation of trading strategies.
- You will work closely with our Executive Director, Head of Macro Research, and our other senior analysts, who have extensive experience in global financial markets. Together, we aim to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns for our clients through innovative and disciplined investment processes.
What you'll do...
- Assisting with research and developing new strategies and ideas
- Working with senior quantitative analysts on day-to-day tasks and projects
- Developing and testing new models using statistical analysis, data mining techniques, and machine learning methods
- Conducting backtesting, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis
- Conducting due diligence on potential investments or asset classes
- Coordinating with other team members across different regions and time zones
- Collaborating with other departments at Man Group, such as Technology, Trading, and Client Relations
- Preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Monitoring the performance of existing portfolios and identifying areas for improvement
- Providing ad hoc analysis and insights upon request from stakeholders
- Conducting literature reviews and attending conferences, webinars, and seminars related to quantitative finance
- Developing and validating multi-factor models and quantitative trading signals
- Collaborating with engineers to implement trading algorithms
- Working closely with portfolio managers to integrate research into live trading
- Staying up to date on academic and industry research in quantitative finance
Requirements
- An advanced degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, financial economics, or a related quantitative field from a top-tier institution is required
- A position in investment research that requires strong analytical and data skills to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to difficult problems
- A passion for markets and a willingness to learn quickly
- Excellent quantitative skills based on a strong background in mathematics and statistics, and extensive experience applying those skills in numerical research. Problem-solving skills to support the team.
- Strong programming skills in Python and Java
- Proficiency in Unix is highly desirable.
- An excellent communicator who can explain complex concepts clearly, listen attentively, and answer relevant questions.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- A strong sense of responsibility and a high degree of professionalism are required.
