Quantitative Researcher - PM Analytics

A Quantitative Researcher (Portfolio Management Analytics) is required to deliver transformative improvements to trading and investment processes and provide quantitative insights to research processes at Man Group in London. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and programming skills and experience in investment banking or a similar industry.

Job description: Quantitative Researcher - PM Analytics

Tasks

  • Working with and analyzing large amounts of data
  • Conducting research on transformative data to ultimately improve investment performance
  • Developing tools, content and automation technologies
  • Replicating and building domain expertise from AIC, estimating and leveraging it effectively to generate cross-functional insights and synergies

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in a high-level language, e.g. Python, Matlab
  • Excellent analytical skills; recognized by colleagues as an expert in your field
  • Deep understanding of statistics and ability to apply them to real-world problems
  • Familiarity with analyzing and interpreting data
  • Easy handling of large amounts of data
  • Understanding of risk management techniques and portfolio risk modeling

Advantages

  • 5+ years of experience in an investment bank or similar firm
  • Experience in analyzing/managing complex risks
  • Experience in portfolio management, systematic trading, GS experience
  • C++, Java, C++ or similar programming background
  • Experience with machine learning libraries such as Tensorflow

Personal characteristics

  • Strong academic background and a degree with high mathematical, statistical and computational content, e.g. mathematics, computer science, engineering, economics or physics from a leading university
  • A strong interest in and knowledge of financial markets
  • Shows careful attention to detail
  • A strong interest in technology with a strong passion for data analysis
  • Tends to be proactive with an analytical approach to problem solving and a positive attitude
  • Self-organizing with the ability to prioritize and manage time across multiple projects and meet business needs and priorities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to maintain a strong working relationship with quantitative researchers, technologists, traders and senior business people
  • Confident communication: able to argue a point precisely and positively with conflicting views
