Quantitative Researcher - Portfolio Management
The Quantitative Researcher (m/f/d) in Man Group's Portfolio Management team in London is responsible for conducting research on alpha generation, portfolio construction and risk management. The role requires strong analytical ability, portfolio construction experience and programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
Job description
Tasks
- Part of the portfolio management team, responsible for various research strands, including alpha generation, alpha and fund selection, portfolio construction and capacity assessment
- Daily portfolio management via AHL
- Improvement of existing portfolios
- Conducting research in alpha creation and allocations
- Daily portfolio management and risk management
- Contribution to AHL's overall research effort through interaction and collaboration with other research teams
Requirements
Technology and business skills
- Excellent analytical skills, commensurate with experience and expertise
- Strong understanding of statistical/machine learning/portfolio construction techniques
- 2+ years experience in a similar position
- Expertise in high-level language programming such as Python or R
- Proficient with high-performance computers/parses or similar
- Focus on delivering high-quality results
- Understanding of risk management techniques and portfolio risk modeling
- Portfolio management experience is a plus
Personal characteristics
- Strong academic background and a degree with high mathematical/statistical/computer content, e.g. mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics or related
- Self-motivated with an analytical approach
- Hands-on attitude, willing to get involved with technology and projects within the company
- Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing business needs and priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to establish and maintain close working relationships with quantitative researchers, technologists, vendors and other business partners
- Confident communication skills to express expenses clearly and confidently; with conflicting views
