Research Analyst

Purpose of the position

The position of Research Analyst at Man Numeric involves developing and implementing quantitative investment strategies in financial markets as part of the Strategies Alpha Research team. The role involves supporting alpha research strategies and alpha generation through research, implementation, and close collaboration with other team members to create and support existing strategies by identifying new opportunities and innovative ideas in the areas of data sources, strategy coding, and statistical analysis; building and refining models; and interpreting, presenting, and implementing the results.

Key competencies

The following skills are required:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or engineering
  • A passion for investment research, combined with strong intuition and the ability to think outside the box
  • Strong academic performance with a knack for quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent ability to distill information from data sources and research
  • Strong programming skills to analyze large and complex datasets using statistical tools (preferably Python)
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas
  • (Optional) Previous experience in asset management, particularly with stocks or bonds, is a plus but not required

Salary and benefits

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $200,000. The compensation package also includes benefits and other financial and non-financial components.
