Risk Governance Manager- Vice President

The Risk Governance Manager - Vice President is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of risk management at Nomura Financial Products Europe GmbH (NFPE) and reports directly to the senior management level. The main tasks include the development and implementation of risk management strategies, the monitoring of regulatory requirements and the coordination of risk activities.

Job description

Tasks

  • Risk Governance Framework: Maintain risk inventory and risk strategy including risk appetite, lead the Senior NPPE Risk Committee, manage NFPE policies and procedures.
  • Regulatory monitoring and change management: Ensuring that German risk-related regulations are understood and complied with; monitoring local risk projects and communicating with the global change function and local contacts in Compliance, Finance and other functions.
  • Outsourcing controls: Monitor and improve SLA for risk with other Nomura entities, escalate breaches of contract terms.
  • Operational Risk Coordinator for the risk function including control tests.
  • Regulatory relations: Managing the relationship with the German regulatory authorities for risk-related matters.
  • Risk MI: Management of consolidated risk MI for the unit, communication with the global reporting teams responsible for the preparation of the reports; preparation of ad hoc reports for the NFPE CRO.
  • CAO activities: Budgeting, forecasting, ongoing cost management and business management for the NFPE risk team.
  • Ad hoc tasks: Departmental presentations, setting up governance committees, conducting gap analysis, leading smaller projects and initiatives and other ad hoc projects to support the Group's internal risk governance framework.

Requirements

Essential requirements

  • Experience in similar roles in the financial services sector and/or in a professional services firm.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Experience with German regulatory compliance (preferably related to risk) in a financial institution in Germany.
  • Thorough knowledge of control frameworks, including the preparation of procedural documents.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
