Risk Manager

The Risk Manager at Banque Cantonale de Fribourg will be responsible for risk control and management, overseeing the monitoring, analysis, and reporting of risks at the bank level. The position requires a strong interest in risk management and internal controls, as well as strong analytical skills and knowledge of finance and economics.

Tasks

The Risk Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Assistance in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting risks at the bank level
  • Calculation of key risk indicators (KRIs) and monitoring of their trends
  • Assisting in the creation of dashboards and reports for senior management and the board of directors
  • Support in maintaining internal policies and procedures related to risk management and the internal control system
  • Active participation in maintaining and improving an appropriate internal control system (ICS)
  • Review of the adequacy and effectiveness of first-line controls as part of the second line of defense
  • Collaborating with front-, middle-, and back-office teams and fostering a culture of risk management and internal controls among employees

Requirements

The Risk Manager should meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field, with 3–5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong interest in risk management, internal controls, and Swiss banking regulation (FINMA, Basel Framework, SBA, etc.)
  • A solid understanding of financial statements and banking processes
  • Analytical skills & Excel proficiency (pivot tables, Power Query); SQL/Power BI/Tableau a plus; VBA/Python/R a plus
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, analytical thinking, strong communication and persuasion skills, and excellent written communication skills
  • Curiosity, a willingness to learn, and an interest in numbers as well as developments in banking, finance, and regulation
  • Ability to work independently, teamwork skills, and flexibility
  • Proficiency in German and fluency in French
