Risk Manager
The Risk Manager at EFG International in Geneva is part of the talent pool for various risk positions and is responsible for tasks related to the independent monitoring of operational, market-related, and financial risks. The role requires at least five years of experience in risk management or auditing, as well as fluency in French and English.
Tasks
- Contribute to the role of the second line of defense (2LOD) by independently monitoring operational, market-related, and financial risks.
- Contribute to fostering a systematic and effective risk culture while ensuring the necessary framework is in place.
- Work as part of a team of specialists with the following responsibilities:
- Detailed analysis of investment risks, such as liquidity, and appropriate monitoring mechanisms.
- Identification and assessment of credit risks arising from derivative and non-derivative products, as well as deviations from risk profiles; conducting risk due diligence for specific products.
- Analysis of portfolios by identifying concentrations.
- Conducting market risk analysis for client portfolios (including regular reviews of investment restrictions for client portfolios).
- Independent audits of internal risk controls, certificates, life insurance policies, etc.
- Independent oversight of operational risk controls, including IT security, transaction monitoring, fraud prevention, and key risk processes.
- Conducting thematic reviews and in-depth analyses of high-risk topics.
- Regular analysis, monitoring, and reporting of key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Management of direct financial risks, such as balance sheet risks arising from Lombard loans, guarantees, and the use of derivatives, as well as indirect risks associated with the company's active business.
- Coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including the Risk Committee, the Board of Directors, and regulatory authorities.
- Compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Management of management risk and independent monitoring of financial risks, including interest rate risk, credit risks (lombard loans, guarantees), and risks associated with derivatives.
- Regulatory monitoring and impact analysis of regulatory developments in the context of Lombard loans (including balance sheet risks (Treasury, ALM—liquidity and margin protection, including derivatives and margin protection), as well as regular analysis of methodologies, limits, and usage practices).
- Support and represent the Head of Risk in preparing risk management reports and presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Maintaining and updating risk management documentation and guidelines.
- Continuous monitoring of the risk environment and identification of new risks and risk trends.
- Implementation of risk management initiatives and projects.
- Training and coaching new team members on risk management principles and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that risk management activities are aligned with business objectives.
- Training and representing first-line control personnel and fostering a strong risk culture.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a risk manager or auditor at a financial institution, a Swiss bank, or an auditing firm in the relevant industry.
- Excellent knowledge of the banking regulatory framework, expertise in risk management and mitigation.
- A strong understanding of financial instruments and operational technical aspects (Treasury & ALM—liquidity and interest rates), credit risks, and their impact on clients/counterparties is a plus.
- Excellent command of the French language and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
