Job Title: Sanctions Advisory Lead (Maternity Cover)

Tasks

- Sanctions consulting and expertise for external sanctions developments, providing corporate policy and sanctions risk appetite for stakeholders - Review potential and existing customers and transactions for sanctions and reputation-related risks and agree on further measures with the front office or operations teams or refer the matter to senior management for decision - Provide expertise on the design of the sanctions control framework for senior management - Monitor the operation of sanctions screening and filter controls - Perform regular sample-based QA reviews of the work of Level 1 sanctions analysts in the operations teams, including periodically reviewing and updating the sampling and review methodology to ensure it continues to provide an accurate picture of the performance of the operations teams - Produce timely and accurate management information for financial crime senior management based on metrics from operations and other relevant information - Be responsible for the development and delivery of sanctions training for all relevant stakeholders and the entire company - Provide expertise on sanctions issues to support change projects and business initiatives - Prepare and submit regular reports to relevant regulatory authorities, e.g., OFSI

Requirements

- Experience: The position requires experience in managing sanctions risks in a financial services company, including the sanctions implications of complex wholesale financial products and transactions, as well as sanctions risks arising from complex customer relationships - Communication and stakeholder management: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate complex issues and solutions to non-experts and adapt style for different audiences - Mindset and attitude: Pragmatic, results-oriented, able to maintain a clear stance in conflict situations, independent, and able to make decisions without constant supervision from management
