Securities Operations Specialist
The Securities Ops Specialist is responsible for supporting internal clients and managing securities transactions, including handling discrepancies, communicating with counterparties, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The job requires strong analytical skills, experience in banking or broker-dealing, and knowledge of securities characteristics and transactions.
Job description
The position as Securities Ops Specialist includes the following tasks and responsibilities:- Superior customer service for internal customers (bankers/register representatives)
- Supporting team members and the Securities Operations Specialist and Supervisor in providing customer service to internal customers
- Direct contact with the clearing agent (Pershing LLC)
- Conducting investigations into pre-settlement discrepancies to ensure timely settlement of RVP/DVP transactions on RTTM
- Effective communication with counterparties and trading desk
- Creation of collateral, control, and booking of structured bonds
- Creation of collateral, control, and booking of Yankee CDs
- Review, prevention, or resolution of unresolved commercial transactions
- Processing of securities transfers (deposit to deposit and ACAT)
- Reporting or sending notifications about margin calls, options in the money or exercised, and CA events
- Submission of CA elections on NETEX360
- Maintaining the cost base
- Monitoring and resolution of margin calls
- Maintaining regulatory reporting (DTCC)
- Investigation of discrepancies related to securities reconciliations, including resolution
- Developing and implementing improvements and solutions for tasks and processes with a focus on performance, collaboration, and efficiency
- Creation and maintenance of procedure manuals
- Compliance with principles, laws, regulations, and guidelines relating to anti-money laundering and banking secrecy, as well as Itau's relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements
The following qualifications and skills are expected for this position:- Associate's or bachelor's degree (finance or accounting) preferred
- Strong analytical skills
- Commitment to providing a positive experience for our customers
- 1-3 years of experience in the banking or broker-dealer industry
- Microsoft Office; strong knowledge of Excel, VBA would be a plus
- Knowledge of securities characteristics, trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation
- Fluent English
- Portuguese and/or Spanish are desirable
- Series 99 or Series 7
- Preferably experience or knowledge of Netex360
